Construction Skills courses are designed for suitably qualified personnel who are responsible for the installation, servicing and maintenance of refrigeration systems.

Each Candidate’s assessment is carried out to standards accepted
by the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Board (ACRIB).
A comprehensive set of Construction Skills Course Notes and Record Book are included in the course fee. Certification, Registration and a
“Green” Safe Handlers Card is awarded to successful Candidates.

ASSESSMENT

The Construction Skills Assessment is an (open-book) assessment

The assessment is over 1 hour 30 minutes in duration and consists of 45 multiple choice questions. Each candidate will also carry out a ‘hands on’ examination

  1. Basic thermodynamics & indirect leakage checking principles
  2. Environmental impact of refrigerants & corresponding environmental regulations
  3. Records & commissioning data requirements
  4. Checks for leakages
  5. Handling, Storage transportation & disposal
  6. Compressor function & leakage risks
  7. Condenser function & leakage risks
  8. Evaporator function & leakage risks
  9. Thermostatic expansion valve & capillary tube restrictor function & leakage risks
  10. HCFC refrigerants & Montreal Protocol
  11. Hazards
